Product Overview

Testosterone Cypionate in Grapeseed Oil Description1-6

Testosterone cypionate is a long-acting testosterone ester commonly used in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for the treatment of male hypogonadism. Non-esterified (free) testosterone has a very short half-life of approximately 10 minutes, whereas testosterone cypionate has an extended half-life of about 8 days. The esterification process significantly prolongs testosterone’s duration of action and increases its solubility in oil-based formulations.

When prepared in oil, testosterone cypionate allows for a more stable and sustained release of testosterone, which may help reduce injection frequency and minimize fluctuations in hormone levels. Pharmaceutical oil vehicles used for testosterone cypionate injections include cottonseed oil, sesame oil, and grapeseed oil. Administration may be performed via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Grapeseed oil is often considered less viscous and potentially less inflammatory compared to other commonly used oils.

Mechanism of Action1-6

Testosterone cypionate and testosterone enanthate are both esterified forms of testosterone. The esterification occurs on the 17b carbon of the testosterone structure. The esters extend the duration of action and are useful for less frequent, intramuscular, or subcutaneous injections.  Once administered, the esters are cleaved, releasing free testosterone into the bloodstream. Testosterone then binds to androgen receptors in various tissues, exerting anabolic and androgenic effects. These effects may include the development and maintenance of male secondary sexual characteristics, stimulation of muscle and bone growth, and regulation of libido and mood.
