N-Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a naturally occurring compound produced from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol (I3C), which is present in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and kale. DIM is commonly used as a dietary supplement or compounded into oral capsules or topical formulations for its potential roles in hormonal balance, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory support.

Product Mechanism of Action

DIM may influence estrogen metabolism by shifting the breakdown of estradiol (E2) toward 2-hydroxyestrone (2-OHE1) instead of 16α-hydroxyestrone, a potentially pro-carcinogenic metabolite. carcinogenic metabolite. Scientific studies continue to investigate how this compound interacts with biological pathways, including:

DIM may act as a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), helping reduce androgen-driven conditions like acne and hormonal hair loss in some individuals.
Aromatase Inhibition (mild)
Some studies suggest DIM can mildly inhibit aromatase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to estradiol, making it of interest in estrogen-dominant or androgen-sensitive conditions.
Shown to have Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Activity
May modulate NF-κB signaling, reducing inflammatory cytokine release. Has exhibited antioxidant properties, scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS).
Shown to promote apoptosis (programmed cell death) and inhibit angiogenesis in certain cancer cells (in vitro)

Anticoagulant use: DIM may have mild antiplatelet effects; monitor bleeding risk.
Concurrent hormone therapy: DIM may alter efficacy of oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
May interact with cytochrome P450 enzymes, affecting metabolism of other drugs.
